SCOPE OF WORK
The Chief Engineer 3000 kW / Engineer Officer Unlimited will serve onboard Offshore Support Construction (OSC) vessels – Damen 2610 catamaran, equipped with propeller propulsion systems.
Under the supervision of the Captain, the Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all machinery and technical systems, including propulsion, power generation, auxiliary and safety systems.
He ensures full compliance with Class (ABS), Flag State (Marshall Islands), client, and company requirements, while supporting offshore construction and support operations.
The role includes:
- Management of the engine department under the authority of the Captain
- Planned, corrective and predictive maintenance of all machinery
- Fuel, lubricating oil and spare parts management
- Compliance with HSE, environmental and permit-to-work requirements
- Close coordination with the Captain, shore management and client representatives to ensure safe offshore operations
SKILLS & BACKGROUND
Work experience
- Proven experience as Chief Engineer on offshore vessels, preferably OSC / Fast Crew Supplier / Damen 2610 series
- Experience on catamaran vessels with propeller propulsion is required
- Background in offshore construction or support operations is an advantage
Technical skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- Marine diesel engines and propulsion systems
- Power generation and electrical systems
- Auxiliary machinery, fuel, lubrication and hydraulic systems
- Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS / CMMS)
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and automation systems
- Knowledge of Class, Flag State and statutory requirements
- Experience in fuel optimization, maintenance planning and dry-dock preparation
Certifications
- Chief Engineer ≥ 3000 kW / Engineer Officer Unlimited (STCW III/2)
- ERM – Engine Room Resource Management
- Medical Care / Medical First Aid (STCW)
- BOSIET / BST / HUET / CAEERS
- Valid Seaman Book, Passport and Flag State Endorsements
- Client-specific certifications (Golden Rules, safety inductions)
Languages
- English mandatory
- French and/or Portuguese are a strong advantage
IT / Office Skills
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Comfortable with reporting, logs, trackers and electronic documentation
- Ability to maintain audit-ready records
