SCOPE OF WORK

Under the authority of the Marine Operations Superintendent, the Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall execution of the maintenance activities of the FSO and the Loading Buoy SPM (Single Point Mooring).

  • Holds daily contacts with Maintenance Superintendent of the Block. Also frequently liaises with onshore construction contractors crew onboard the FSO.
  • Prepares and follows up the Classification Society inspections, and assists the Inspector of the Classification Society.
  • Proposes when necessary request for modifications, for services and for materials.
  • Has overall responsibility for the operation of all machineries, ancillaries, equipment and control systems on board the FSO.
  • Supervises all maintenance activities onboard the FSO, either performed by crew or by others.
  • Ensures that established maintenance policy, procedures, and job cards are followed and adhered to.
  • Implements technical recommendations from Block Maintenance Superintendent and liaises with him on a day by day basis.
  • Ensures that the construction/modifications activities onboard the FSO are carried out in conformity with the approved modification dossier and in a safe manner.
  • Liaises with Construction Superintendent for the preparation, the execution and the commissioning of the modifications. For the commissioning, Maintenance assistance may be required as well.
  • Ensures operational and technical liaison with Inspection Block Superintendent.
  • Prepares reports, materials requisitions, time sheets, draft procedures of FSO.
  • Initiates, reviews and comments FSO’s modification dossiers.
  • Is responsible for FSO Technical library.
  • Maintains it up to date set of all procedures and technical documents applicable to the FSO.
  • Causes procedures which are missing, inaccurate, or insufficient to be issued or revised.
  • Causes missing technical documents to be ordered from vendors/contractors through Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Ensures that FSO Engine Room and technical rooms tidiness is maintained at all times.
  • Actively participates to the reporting of anomalies.

 

 

SKILLS & BACKGROUND

 

Work experience

  • Strong marine background with service to at least Chief Engineer for 3 years or Second Engineer for 5 years
  • Experience in tanker operations in inert gas tankers
  • Previous FSO/FPSO’s experience may be taken into consideration

 

Technical skills

Technical background in mechanics, hydraulics, electricity, instrumentation, control systems

 

Certifications

  • BV certified, electrical habilitation B2V-H2, BR, BC-HC
  • Advanced Fire Fighting
  • H2S
  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
  • PTW trainings
  • SAP trainings
  • BST/HUET or BOSIET

Degree

Master Mariner Certificate Class 1 or 2 or Chief Engineer Class 1 or 2 according to STCW

Languages

Fluent spoken and written French & English, portuguese is a plus
