SCOPE OF WORK
Under the authority of the Mooring Master / Pilot, has to supervise the deck crew of the vessel. Is involved in the planning, scheduling and assigning of work to the deck crew on ship.
- Plans the daily work schedule and give task to the deck crew. Check the work if it complies with the approved operating procedures.
- Assists in the planned maintenance routines of Life Saving Appliances, Fire Fighting equipment and other marine equipment Establish.
- Maintains a Bosun’s store/workshop for use in the completion of Bosun’s duties.
- Assists in the issue, control and inventory of lifting equipment.
- Ensures lifting equipment is checked before issue and is fit for purpose.
- Manages quarantined lifting equipment as per company procedure.
- Establishes and controls stock levels of marine consumables and equipment within the Bosun store.
- Maintains the vessels mooring equipment in a state of readiness and assist in mooring operations and preparations.
- Assists in the general upkeep of the vessel.
SKILLS & BACKGROUND
Work experience
- Has a minimum of sixty (60) months on-board service as rating (AB/Oiler or above) on board a seagoing AFRAMAX tankers or larger
- Previous experience on FSO/FPSO or crude oil terminals
Technical skills
- Be familiar with tanker operations (crude oil)
- Be familiar with the basic operation of terminal tugs
- Be familiar with operation of cranes/derricks and have knowledge on lifting equipment and their factors of safety
Certifications
- Valid IMO STCW 95 rating certificate for Bosun
- Valid rating’s certificate to perform duties on oil tankers
- Accredited certificate for testing gas in enclosed spaces
- BST/HUET or BOSIET
